Turkey Burgers Recipe

Directions

  1. Step 1 1. Peel the onions and cut into 1/8″ to 1/4″ pieces. Peel the garlic and chop finely. Warm the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Step 2 Add the onions and garlic and cook over medium heat, stirring often, for about 10 minutes, or until the onions start to brown.

Turkey burgers with mayonnaise, chopped fresh basil leaves, kalamata olives, ground turkey, chopped dried tomatoes packed in oil, chopped fresh thyme leaves, sesame buns, packed arugula.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsps. chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 10 Kalamata olives
  • 1 1/4 lb. ground turkey
  • 2 tbsps. chopped dried tomatoes packed in oil
  • 3/4 tsp. chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 4 sesame buns
  • 1 1/2 cups packed arugula

Accompaniments:

  • tomato slices
  • shredded lettuce
  • condiments such as ketchup and mustard

  • Accompaniment: lemon wedges
  • Special equipment: a deep-fat thermometer

  • 2 1-pint baskets strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3 tbsps. sugar
  • 2 tbsps. framboise liqueur or Grand Marnier

Directions

  1. Step 1 In a small bowl stir together mayonnaise and basil. Pit and chop olives. In a large bowl blend together olives, turkey, tomatoes, thyme, and salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Step 3 Grill burgers on an oiled rack set 5 to 6 inches over glowing coals about 4 1/2 minutes on each side for well-done.
  4. Step 4 (Alternatively, burgers may be cooked in a hot well-seasoned cast-iron skillet or ridged grill pan.) Make sure burgers are cooked through.
